Would you picture yourself here?
I was drawn to this and i don't WHY.

From a Book -

-Called 100 Fashion Designers
Anne Valerie Hash Milan 2004
Photo- Fabrice Laroche
i selected this as i like the presence from image. The feel from the garment teamed with converse yet are a contrast of a high end of fashion to a mainstream brand of baseball pumps. The pose and hair give a feel of hiding beind something with the heavily ruffled sleeves and front. But yet the dress and background from a clear relation in tones and style.

Japanese fashion label Cosmic Wonder create installation pieces within their work , which i quite like. Using the garment to speak for themselves, telling us a story from the eniviroment in which there in. The colour use within the pieces is very refined and natural.
I just like the way in which something so simplistic can be interpreted for somethng else. The above image reflcts its name looking restless. Below the contrast between the appliance and the model , a reflection yet in human form?

ii like the angles and the 3d presence of the model due to the reflection in this image . i wouldn't go crazy over the pic i just like the idea behind it, yet simple but effective.

The variation of images above and below the , specifically the portait style shots and different types of lighting .

100 designers
Kim Jones- is known for his modernist casualwear as a designer yet he works behind the lens too as a stylist and a art director
I selected the above images as i just really the scrap book feel to it and the mix of text and array of images too.

Mini ME ! ... Interview ...... how cute ?

Oh by the way sorry about the bad scanning.

i was flickin through the pages of Interview i came across this section , it says

" A new fashionista is born.As the paparazzi generation segues into the parenthood and reinvents itself as PG, they eyes of the world turn to celeb kis for fashion inspiration."

Images from interview dec/jan 10
photos by Christina Kruse and styled Miguel Enamorado

i think this pics are really cute , portraying the kids as adults. with clothes that are actually designed for them. It is just like when you are a kid an play dress up but the clothes were always too big.

Interview mag......Floyd Mayweather JR.

Some pics from interview magazine dec/jan 10.
Matweather jr , i like the patriotic symbolism that represents his pride of fighting for his country yet it is offset with the contrast of his gloves being made of money. Which show he living the American Dream with fists full off money ... isn't that what it all about? Splash of colour deface the images which reflect his talent... Fighting !

PLATON He's and English man in New York!

Born in london 1968, Photgrapher Platon then moved to the Greek isles before returning to london to study at the age of 17., he now live in N.YC

Am particularly drawn to the Shade, Tones , Location and Styling of these images!

PhiLLiP ToLeDaNo

New York artist Phillip Toledano, has truly captured the art of fashion in these images. The series of photographic images show the garments as works of art in a gallery. I love the attention to detail within the images, the typical tourist, art students etc.

Here is some other bits off work i found...
I specifically selected this images as i like the way various colours of ballons add colour whilst act as support for the garments, instead of using models . The simplistic setup is visually appealing and the sheer fabrics contribute to the final images, adding depth and thought, to the menaing behind this. In particular the lil red heart .

More Dolly Days... The World Of Blythe.
I came across these big headed dolls with a while ago, at first they looked a bit possessed but they've kind a grew on me. The dolls were orginally out in the 1972 but weren't very popular and were therefore discontinued in 73.The dolls have a unique charm with their every changing eye colours.

New York born photgrapher Gina Garran brought the dolls back to life in 200o with a book "This is Blythe" placing the dolls in real life styles and sceaniros.

Images by Gina Garran- google
Using locations and having the doll styled makes the imags realstic and attract my attention due to the unuasl presence of the blythe doll, which to me is creating a fashion image.

A/W 08 Wonderland

Scarecrow/Strawman, Personally i like the images were no face is visible the image where the head is shot out of frame gives focus on the body and the styling which i do like. i would say this has been a studio based shoot which gives the feel in certain images as a location.
Re - inacting the use of a scarecrow which is traditionally a human style figure , which is dressed in old clothing to prevent birds from feeding/destroying the crop.

Kate and the Gyspies

V magazine Sep 09 styling by Karen Langley, Photgraphed Iain Mc Kell

To Cornwall went Kate and spent 2 days in living the gypsy life, a dressed down kate looks fab even if she is roughing it .

Casa Causarian... Miami

Above -The Witness... the only thing to have witnessed his death a statue

The Loo.... There was orginally two of the gold and marble toilets but one was sold on.

The pool, adorned with real gold tiles

Whilst on Hoilday in Miami me and the girls went to the infamous Versace Mansion... i was amazed by the attention to detail in this place. The inspirations behind the design, the whole concept and themes that run thought the mansion which Versace lived at until his murder. You weren't allowed to take photo's in the upstairs bedrooms, but it was amazing just getting to see them. Some even contained rare designs from pop legend Elton John.

Restyle for River Island

I decided to enter a Lil Competition for River Island the objective was to restyle, customie .. basically do anythink you want to a garment from the brand. There was quite a few to select from so i just picked this denim skirt not particular my style but it did the job. From my personal opinion River Island sometimes has that tacky feel to it so i opted to go down that route. Being inspired by Spring/Summer 10 trends from the Catwalk i decided to combine lace and denim.

Basically i unpicked the seams of the skirt and then thought What the hell am i going to with this, so i just arsed around for like an hour and decided to make a Bodysuit, so i used the front panel of the skirt as the back panel for my suit and went from there.

I used the waist band of the skirt to make a halter style top, upicking the side to give a lepel . as it was all a little bit to revealing on the bottom half i added a frill on either leg to make lil shorts which do look kind of cute turning it to a Lil Playsuit.

BeLOw
is the final garement that i restyled it looks ok and it i think it does fit into the brand.

Sprit Of A Fahion House... Sonia Rykiel

The above image is from Sonia Rykiels s/s 08 ad campaign(image form google), i really liked this and would say the s/s 08 collection was are main inspiaration to the styling giving the essence of rykiels designs.

These images are from a group project we done last year... working with our Terri and Jay. We selected to do Sonia Rykiel,we had to reflect the mood of the design house as how we percieved it and reflect this within our final three images. As a group we thought we achieved this and did work well together.

As per usual everything went wrong and we ended up doing the photographs ourselves and going on location to Avenham Park in Preston.
